Iris Hond is a Dutch concert pianist and composer, who while homeless and living on the streets as a young teenager, graduated with honors from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In March 2016, Ms. Hond visited RRH&A and Minneapolis, to further promote her music and talents in the United States. RRH&A, through our vast “rolodex”, spent time introducing Ms. Hond to prominent figures in the Minneapolis music scene; and, as a result, Ms. Hond was booked at several venues. Ms. Hond’s album, ‘Dear World’ will be released in 2016, with tour dates to be announced soon.
Ms. Hond made her informal (and impromptu) Minneapolis debut on Saturday, March 5th, 2016, at Parma 8200 , being invited to play by Benny Weinbeck of the Benny Weinbeck Trio after they played their second set. Her performance prompted many in the audience to approach Ms. Hond with words of praise and gratitude. Her performance was truly moving, so moving in fact that she brought many in the audience to tears. We look forward to seeing more of Ms. Hond and experiencing more of her music in Minneapolis in the near future.
Ms. Hond will be performing on September 18th, 2016 at the Dakota Jazz Club in Downtown Minneapolis.
